PHARMACY DESIGN
PUEBLO NUEVO – MADRID
We were asked to perform the design for the first pharmacy store of Farmaclock franchise. We worked with the corner of San Telesforo Street and Luis Ruíz Street premises in Madrid´s Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood. We had to take decisions paying attention to particular requirements as well as global concepts that will define the brand´s identity.
Pharmacies are places where a large amount and variety of displayed products can create a great visual noise. We decided to create a neutral and minimalist design in order to conceive a framework where the brand could strongly stand out at the time products could have a well-organized structure. A very important decision was the idea of guiding the clients through space and favoring their relationship with the brand and the products in a clear manner.
The facades played a leading role to define the brand identity. A corporative blue bright and continuous label was set in all over the glazed shop window. The blue entrance portico is a leading steel volume that resolves the gap between the sidewalk and the interior space, contents the duty chemist ATM and intentions the position the clients will be once they enter the pharmacy.
The main formal element of the windows is the back of the vertebra formed by the modules of interior furniture. They generate a clear and organic surface that solves the integral design of the shop windows.
The interior layout is articulated by the display modules, which surround and accompany the client’s trip, highlight the brand and make the functional distribution work.
On the front they display the products; at the top they have a corporate blue wide swath that gives unity to the whole piece. The different areas are divided into sectors by narrow colored strips: cosmetics, orthopedics, personal care, child care, homeopathy, etc. The back of the vertebra houses the medicines storage, the orthopedics changing room and the interior of the shop window.
Two custom-made counters were designed: one for personalized attention, both white and following the curve shape while creating a clear surface for the Farmaclock brand setting. Both of them incorporate a horizontal support surface specifically requested by the owner for the customers´ convenience.
The functional needs are completed with an office, the laboratory, storage areas, and the toilet.
The result has been very satisfactory. The space has a strong corporative identity that has been already applied to new pharmacies. Farmaclock´s spaces are recognized by their minimalism, formal and spatial abstraction, functional clearness and a clean and purist brand presence.
